I can still remember the shelf in the library of my grade school where Louisa May Alcott’s novels stood in an imperfect row. The first sentence of Little Women drew me into the warm embrace of the March family and had me returning to that shelf every week during ‘Library Time’ to select a new book. My love of literature began in the third grade, and it has grown into something deeper over the decades. Keene, Austen, Dickens, Fitzgerald, Hemingway, Tolstoy, Dinesen, McCullough, Pilcher, Uris, Binchy, Evans, Hosseini, McCann, Doerr (to name a few) have all kindled my imagination and inspired me to write down the stories that come to life in my head and heart with the experience of something profound or shared.
My Life: I was born in Iowa, raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, and I have lived in Montreal, Boston, Denver, London, and Lake Forest, IL. My husband and I (along with a British Lab and a Pembroke Welsh Corgi) currently are back in St. Paul. We have traveled the world with our son to give him an appreciation for other cultures, peoples, and languages, and we continue to explore this amazing globe every chance we get.
